CDAS – Advisory Notice

Advisory Notice

Commercial Diving Association (Singapore)

REF: CDAS–AN–2025–11

Dear CDAS Members & the Commercial Diving Community,

The Commercial Diving Association (Singapore) wishes to highlight several important matters that have surfaced during recent discussions. We believe it is essential that all CDAS members and the wider commercial diving community are aware of the following:

1. Social Media Postings of Commercial Diving Operations

We have been informed and observed a noticeable increase in commercial diving related posts on social media platforms. While we understand that many individuals are enthusiastic and talented content creators, and some posts are indeed creative, a concerning number of these posts fall into areas that may constitute serious infringements.

Please be reminded that authorities today can easily detect such offences through social media monitoring.

CDAS strongly urges all members and the commercial diving community to exercise care and diligence when posting content related to diving operations. Content shared should be credible, responsible, and reflective of professionalism within our industry rather than unsafe stunts or dramatized depictions reminiscent of fictional Hollywood action films.

We also remind all to adhere to PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act) requirements to ensure compliance and avoid unintended breaches.

2. Awareness of Emergency Response Plans (ERP)

We have also received feedback that some commercial divers are not familiar with, or are unaware of, their organisation’s in-house or a generic Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

We strongly encourage all CDAS members and diving operators to incorporate ERP training into their hiring, onboarding, and orientation processes. Additionally, we recommend conducting at least an annual ERP review or a practical exercise. All personnel should possess the minimum necessary knowledge and skills to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.

We urge everyone to continue prioritizing safe diving practices.
Wishing all of you a safe operating environment, and continued success and profitability in the year ahead.

Best Wishes

Dr Shahril
Chairman
Commercial Diving Association Singapore
